Lights Added To Repowered Lawn Tractor
Steve Dietrich of Morton, Ill., upgraded his 1961 Jacobsen lawn tractor by repowering it with a 6.5-hp Predator engine.
“I use it mostly as a powered wheelchair around the farm. Sometimes I need it after dark and wanted to find lights that would work well and fit,” says Dietrich.
He used solar porch lights from Harbor Freight and mounted them on the front and rear of the tractor.
“They work great, with no wires and free power. The lights are motion-activated and dim to half power when no motion is detected. It’s still easy to see around the tractor. They make a nice 50 ft. half-circle of light that’s easy to see.”
Dietrich bought the lights for $13 each and added the 2-year warranty for an additional $3 per light.
